Nuno Crato, GCIH, GCIP, professor-investigador de matemática e estatística, Cemapre, ISEG, Universidade de Lisboa, membro do Conselho Científico para a Educação Nacional do governo francês (CSEN), cientista visitante no centro europeu, JRC, em Itália, lidera atualmente a Iniciativa Educação, uma organização dirigida à Educação Básica e Secundária. Foi presidente da Sociedade Portuguesa de Matemática (2004-2010), presidente do Taguspark (2010- 2011) e Ministro da Educação e Ciência (2011-2015). Publicou alguns trabalhos com reflexões sobre a sua experiência ministerial, nomeadamente “Everything starts with the curriculum”, ResearchED 4, Fevereiro 2019; “Curriculum and education reforms in Portugal: An analysis on why and how students’ knowledge and skills improved “, in F. Publicou recentemente Apología del Libro de Texto: Cómo Escribir, Elegir y Utilizar un Buen Manual (Madrid, Narcea), coeditou o livro Improving National Education Systems After COVID-19: Moving Forward After PIRLS 2021 and PISA 2022 (Springer 2024), editou Improving a Country's Education: PISA 2018 Results in 10 Countries (Springer 2021) e coeditou Data-Driven Policy Impact Evaluation (Springer 2019). Divulgador científico e interventor em educação, alguns dos seus livros estão publicados em várias línguas e países, incluindo o Reino Unido, Espanha, Itália e Brasil, nomeadamente A Matemática das Coisas (SPM/Gradiva 2008) e Figuring It Out (Springer 2010). Pelos seus trabalhos, recebeu prémios da Sociedade Europeia de Matemática (2003) e da Comissão Europeia (2007). Foi agraciado como Comendador (2008) e Grã-Cruz da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique (2016), e com a Grã-Cruz da Ordem da Instrução Pública (2022).

Nuno Crato, GCIH, GCIP, is a professor and researcher in mathematics and statistics at Cemapre, ISEG, University of Lisbon, a member of the Scientific Council for National Education of the French government (CSEN), and a visiting scientist at the European Center, JRC, in Italy. He currently leads the Education Initiative, an organization focused on Primary and Secondary Education. He was president of the Portuguese Mathematical Society (2004-2010), president of Taguspark (2010-2011), and Minister of Education and Science (2011-2015). A scientific communicator and active participant in education, some of his books have been published in several languages and countries, including the UK, Spain, Italy, and Brazil, notably A Matemática das Coisas (SPM/Gradiva 2008) and Figuring It Out (Springer 2010). For his work, he received awards from the European Mathematical Society (2003) and the European Commission (2007). He was honored with the title of Commander (2008) and Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique (2016), as well as the Grand Cross of the Order of Public Instruction (2022).
